Bolton Wanderers weighing up a move for Arsenal winger

Arsenal winger Jay Beckford in on trial at Championship side Bolton Wanderers, according to the clubs’ official twitter account.

The 18-year-old is hoping to impress and earn a deal with the Trotters. His scholarship with Arsenal is up at the end of the season and he is weighing up his options for next season. Beckford played for the Trotters’ Under-23s in their fixture against Birmingham City yesterday.

The highly-rated winger joined Arsenal three years ago from Leyton Oreint. He signed for the O’s when he was 10 but grew up supporting the Gunners.

Beckford joined Arsenal aged 15 and was tipped as a future star. However, they may well let him leave for free in the summer despite him catching the eye for their Under-18s this season.

Bolton Wanderers are currently in a relegation battle in the Championship and are hoping to get over the line to safety. They have had a tough campaign under Phil Parkinson after their promotion from League One last season and it would be a great achievement if they could manage to stay up.

The Trotters tend to give trialists a chance to impress in their Under-18 and Under-23 games as they look to bolster their academy for the future. They have had some good young talent come up through their ranks in recent years, such as Josh Vela and Zach Clough.
