Middlesbrough duo nominated for PFA Player of the Month award

Two Middlesbrough players have been nominated for the PFA EFL Championship Player of the Month award for March. Patrick Bamford and Adama Traore are shortlisted for the award. Callum Paterson of Cardiff, Costel Pantilimon of Nottingham Forest and Fulham’s Aleksander Mitrovic and Tom Cairney are also nominated.

Middlesbrough’s form in March saw them maintain their promotion push. They currently sit in 6th position going into the final two months of the season. Impressive wins against Leeds United, Birmingham and Barnsley meant the play-offs remained in sight.

The two best players in March for Middlesbrough were Bamford and Traore, and they have rightfully been rewarded for their performances with this nomination.

Bamford continued his goalscoring form with six goals in five games last month, including a fantastic hat-trick against Leeds at The Riverside. His man-of-the-match performances throughout the month mean he is in with a real shout of bagging this award.

Adama Traore won this award back in February, and is nominated for the second time after his spectacular run of form since the turn of the year. Previous managers were unable to get the best out of the young Spaniard, but since Tony Pulis has taken over, Adama has been at his brilliant best. He is arguably playing the best football of his career so far under the guidance of the Welshman.

The 22-year old scored two goals in March, and managed to provide two assists for team mates. He also completed a league high amount of successful dribbles with 48.
