Rochdale

The League One relegation battle – who’s going to survive the drop?

With the League One season coming to a close, there’s just four points seperating the teams of the bottom of the table (excluding Bury, who are dead and ‘buried’) and the pressure is on if they want to escape to survival.

Let’s take a look at the three teams who could still by plying their trade in League One next season if they string together a few important results – Rochdale, Milton Keynes Dons and Northampton Town.

Rochdale

The most likely out of the three to claw themselves to safety is definitely Rochdale. The Dale are actually in impressive form given their lowly-league position – just two defeats in their previous ten league outings.

Looking at their remaining fixtures, a home tie against Oldham, who occupy 20th place and are just two points ahead of Rochdale, is the definition of a ‘relegation six pointer’. If you want a flutter on some of their games, be sure to use a 1xBet Promo Code. They also play against Oxford, who are struggling of late and find themselves just five points from the relegation zone.

MK Dons

Another side who belie their 22nd position, the MK Dons have won three of the previous six games – however their last two outings have been defeats at the hands of top-of-the-table Blackburn and Wigan. Five games left to play for Dan Micciche’s men and they really do have every chance of staying up if they play the way they have been recently.

Games against teams that are already accepted their mid-table fate include Southend, Bradford and Doncaster. All three of these sides have nothing to play for and that could prove to be the perfect situation for the Dons who, other than the aforementioned games, host a play-off hunting Scunthorpe and face a tricky away trip to 3rd placed Shrewsbury Town.

Northampton

Out of the three teams we’re discussing here today, my money would firmly be on Northampton to fall down to League Two. The Cobblers really are looking like relegation fodder at this point and show no signs of putting up a fight – in their past six games, they’ve managed to lose five and score just one goal.

Not having enough goalscorers is a constant theme of teams who get relegated and Northampton look set to follow that trend. You have to go all the way back to early February for their last league win – 1-3 away at Wimbledon – and with just four games to go, it’s highly likely you’ll be seeing the East Midlands club in League Two next season.
