Sunderland keen on summer moves for Shrewsbury Town duo

Sunderland are showing an interest in signing Shrewsbury Town’s Jon Nolan and Aristote Nsiala, as per a report by HITC Sport.

League One side Shrewsbury have been in fine form this season under Paul Hurst and are currently top of the league. They firmly in contention for a promotion to the Championship with just eight games left for them. They were amongst the bookies favourites for relegation at the start of the campaign.

A key part of their success has been the form of players like Jon Nolan and Aristote Nsiala. However, with Sunderland now being linked with a move, Shrewsbury could face a battle in holding onto them in the summer.

The Black Cats are bottom of the Championship and look set for a relegation to the third tier after a disastrous season. It could be the case that they are preparing for League One by looking at these players. Moves would be difficult though if Shrewsbury take their place in the Championship next season.

Jon Nolan, who is a central-midfielder, has been linked with various Championship clubs over the past month or so. These have included Leeds United, Norwich City and Sheffield United.

Aristote Nsiala, on the other hand, has played the majority of his career in non-league but has made a name for himself at Shrewsbury and has proven himself to be one of the best defenders in League One. The former Accrington Stanley, Grimsby Town and Hartlepool United defender joined the Shrews in January 2017.
