The season still has eight games left to go, but all Leeds United fans will tell you with a sense of resignation that, for the Whites, their season is definitely over.
It was a season that started so well, then dipped, continuing to dip so much that even a bright December spell could do nothing to drag them closer to the top of the table. Languishing is a word that would be perfect to describe the 14th position that the Whites find themselves in the Sky Bet Championship table – it would be a perfect description.
New boss Paul Heckingbottom, with just one win since his arrival at Elland Road, has already said that he is running the rule over the current squad, and will be doing so with next season in mind. It is obvious that players will go, that has been said as much and with a view to players incoming.
It is also obvious to Leeds United fans that new blood is needed, and not just any new blood either. It needs to be quality that comes in to the club, quality that will ensure a push up the table and, in truth, a push that is sustained rather than one that falls by the wayside.
With that in mind, here are five potential players, currently plying their trade in the Sky Bet Championship, who Leeds United should definitely be thinking of attracting to the club ahead of their contract running out on June 30th.
