Leeds United’s Paul Heckingbottom targets move for Celtic midfielder

Leeds United want to sign Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic in the summer, according to Read Sport.

The 25 year-old midfielder has recently rejected a new contract offer and his long-term future with the Scottish Premier League champions is in doubt.

Rogic, who is an Australia international, is under contract at Celtic until 2019. However, the Glasgow side may cash in on him this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year. This has left Championship side Leeds United on red alert.

Leeds manager Paul Heckingbottom is set to be busy this summer in the transfer window as he looks to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad with some signings. The potential signing of Tom Rogic would be an exciting one for Leeds fans.

Rogic is expected to be in the Australia squad for the World Cup in Russia this year and that is an opportunity for him to showcase himself on the world stage. He started his career in Australia and played for Australian National University (ANU FC) and Belconnen United before joining the “Nike academy” in 2011.

He then signed for Central Coast Mariners in 2012 before being snapped up by Celtic in January 2013. He has since played over 100 games for Celtic.

Rogic has made 33 caps for Australia and has scored 7 goals. He was pivotal for them in qualifying for the World Cup in Russia this summer. He has also represented his country for futsal as well.

There is no doubt that Rogic is a talented player and he would be a decent signing by Leeds United if they could pull it off.
