Blackburn Rovers want to sign Premier League striker for next season

Blackburn Rovers want to sign Everton striker Bassala Sambou in the summer, according to the Sun.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray knows the 20 year-old forward well from managing him at Coventry City and now wants to bring him to Ewood Park.

Blackburn are currently top of League One and look set for an immediate return to the Championship. It appears that they are already seeking out potential targets for the summer, with Sambou the first name to be mentioned.

It is yet to be known whether Blackburn want to sign him on a permanent basis or on loan. This depends on whether Everton want to let him leave for good or if they see him as a long-term option.

He has been a key player for their U23s this season and is no doubt a promising talent. If Blackburn can lure him away from Goodison Park then he would be a promising acquisition for them.

Sambou was born in Hamburg in Germany but came up through the academy at Coventry City. Tony Mowbray handed him his professional debut in November 2015 in a League Cup tie against Northampton Town. After a successful season for Coventry’s U18s and U21s, he was snapped up by Everton in June 2016.

You would imagine Sambou would get more first-team opportunities at Blackburn Rovers than he gets at Everton. Also the prospect of reuniting with Mowbray could turn his head. This is certainly a rumour to keep a keen eye on if you are a Blackburn fan.
