Rams dealt blow with news that midfielder faces a month out

Derby County’s hopes of remaining in the race for promotion to the English Premier League have been dealt a blow with the news that midfielder Joe Ledley will spend the next month on the sidelines according to the Derby Telegraph.

The Rams are currently in fifth place in the Sky Bet Championship table but are winless in their last six league outings as their traditional post-Christmas bad run threatens to derail their play-off hopes.

With Derby County desperate to return to form, it has been reported that The Rams will need to find a winning formula without experienced midfielder Ledley who has been ruled out of action for the next four weeks with a calf injury.

The 31-year-old Welshman lasted just 15 minutes of Derby County’s 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Tuesday evening before leaving the field after being on the end of a heavy challenge. The initial worry was that the player would miss the remainder of the season, however the injury is not as bad as first feared and a return to action after Easter is possible.

Ledley has been a regular in the Derby County side this season with the midfielder having made 23 appearances in all competitions for The Rams, scoring one goal. The player signed for the club last summer after being released by English Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.
