Middlesbrough winger named February’s PFA Championship Player of the Month

Middlesbrough midfielder Adama Traore has been rewarded for his excellent form in recent weeks. He picked up the PFA’s Championship Player of the Month award for February.

Middlesbrough endured a mixed month of results, as they recorded two wins, two losses and a draw. But it was Traore’s performances that stood out for the Teessiders, as he chipped in with two goals and an assist.

His man of the match display at home to Reading showed that his final product is certainly improving. He scored both goals in the 2-1 win. Both goals were unstoppable efforts, one with his left foot and one with his right foot.

He also provided the assist for Gestede’s second in the home win against Hull City, and created chance after chance throughout the 90 minutes against the Tigers, with left-back Ola Aina struggling to deal with the midfielder.

The PFA Award is voted for by football fans across the country, and Adama Traore won the Player of the Month award in a landslide victory. The Spaniard secured a huge 31% of the vote, with second-placed Ivan Cavaleiro of Wolves only having 18%.

The winger has taken this impressive form forwards into March, providing two assists in Friday’s victory over Leeds, and another assist for Patrick Bamford in Tuesday night’s win at Birmingham City.

The full list of contenders from the final shortlist polled were as follows: Adama Traore (Middlesbrough) 31%, Ivan Cavaleiro (Wolves) 18%, Lucas Joao (Sheffield Wednesday) 17%, Alan Browne (Preston North End) – 15%, James Maddison (Norwich City) 11%, Sean Morrison (Cardiff City) 8%.
