Five potential candidates to replace Russell Slade at Grimsby Town

Grimsby Town have parted company with manager, Russell Slade after the recent downturn in results, confirmed by their club website. Here are 5 potential candidates to replace Russell Slate –

John Sheridan He is a vastly experienced manager and would bring much needed stability to Grimsby Town. Sheridan won the League Two title with Chesterfield in 2011 and in the following season he lifted the Football League Trophy with them. More recently, Sheridan has pulled off two great escape with Oldham Athletic without him they wouldn’t have their League One status.

Martin Allen – “Mad Dog” could fit the bill for Grimsby Town as his experience and knowledge of League Two is impeccable. In 2012-13 Allen won the League Two title at Gillingham and Allen was crowned League 2 Manager of the Year. He also got Barnet back into the Football League and brought stability back to Barnet.

Phil Brown – Although it may seem unlikely Phil Brown could be the perfect fit for Grimsby Town. Brown led Southend United to consecutive play-off competitions, eventually seeing the club promoted to League One in May 2015. Following this, Brown went on to lead Southend to 7th in League One narrowly missing out on the play offs before being sacked last January.

Alan Stubbs – He has expressed his interest in getting back into management. He was sacked by Rotherham United last season after a poor start to the season but did a great job with Hibernian in Scotland. He deserves another chance to prove his worth in England.

Chris Lucketti – Although he had disappointing spell as manager of Bury, Lucketti could be a perfect fit for Grimsby and this is an opportunity for him to bounce straight back into the game. He offers great experience after being assistant manager to Graham Alexander at Fleetwood were they guided Fleetwood to promotion from League Two in 2013–14 and at Scunthorpe he left them comfortably in the League One play offs.
