5 potential candidates to replace Shaun Derry at Cambridge United

League Two side Cambridge United find themselves looking for a new manager after sacking Shaun Derry. Here are 5 potential candidates-

Phil Brown- The former Hull City and Preston North End boss was recently sacked by Southend United. He is an early front runner for the Cambridge United job. He guided Southend to promotion to League One in 2015 as well as taking Hull City to the Premier League in 2008.

Joe Dunne- He has been placed in temporary charge and was Shaun Derry’s assistant manager. He is being tipped by some bookies to replace him. His only previous managerial role was a two season stint with Colchester United from 2012 to 2014.

Robbie Neilson- The Scottish boss has recently been sacked by League One side MK Dons and Cambridge would be a good opportunity for him to get back into the game. He did a decent job with Hearts in Scotland and deserves another shot in the Football League.

Gary Caldwell- The former Wigan Athletic and Chesterfield boss is looking for a route back into the game and is an outsider for this role. Cambridge would be a decent opportunity for the 35 year-old.

Brain McDermott- He is an experienced boss who has not been a manager for some time now. He did a great job at Reading and took them to the Premier League but his spell in charge of Leeds United did not work out. He deserves another chance in the game and may have to drop into League Two to get that.
