Leeds United supporters have voiced their opinions on Twitter after the Sky Bet Championship side revealed their new logo.
In a statement on the Club Website, Leeds United said they had “consulted more than 10,000 people connected to Leeds United” during a “rigorous process that spanned six months” when considering the new branding, however the Club’s new logo has produced a variety of opinions from supporters of the Yorkshire club.
The Whites’ centenary takes place in 1919 and to commemorate they asked those associated with the Club to reveal what the next 100 years meant to them. Through their report they found that supporters were: full of optimism about the future; not attached to the current crest; not afraid of change; recognise the club’s turbulent recent past and bright future; ready to embrace a new era.
However the Club’s decision to make a “powerful signal of change” through the form of a new crest appears to be more a banana skin for the Yorkshire club, with the majority of responses turning out negative.
The club needs to modernise. We get it. But as a badge for the centenary, there’s nothing timeless or classy about it. No nobility. A big glossy, exercise in branding done by a consultant in Shoreditch. We need to go for a soy milk latte and a lie down. #LUFC

Not seen one serious tweet from a fan saying they like it. 38,000 gone out of their ways to sign to get it removed. #lufc do the right thing.

Even Leeds United’s Sky Bet Championship rivals Aston Villa – who sit six places above the Whites in fourth position – have mocked the new crest, with a number of other supporters and companies laughing at the new design too.
We can't wait for this one, @LUFC…😏

Since the new crest was released, a petition has been started in order to stop the club from changing the logo. Five hours since being created, the online petition has already surpassed its original target of 25,000 signatures and is now creeping closer to 40,000 as opposition grows.
