Leeds United plot £7 million swoop for Aston Villa duo

Leeds United are targeting moves for Aston Villa’s Tommy Elphick and Ross McCormack, as per a report by the Birmingham Mail.

The Whites will apparently be willing to pay a combined £7 million to lure the duo to Elland Road.

Aston Villa are keen to offload some high earning players to balance their books and could be willing to let the duo leave. However, they may have reservations in selling to Leeds as they could be fighting for promotion against them at the end of this season.

Tommy Elphick is now a target for Leeds and he has fallen down the pecking order at Villa. He joined them in the summer of 2016 from AFC Bournemouth but has found it tough to nail down a first-team place at Villa Park. Leeds could be an ideal new home for him as they look to add some defensive reinforcements.

Ross McCormack has played for Leeds before and they could be set to bring him back. He spent four years with them from 2010-2014 and scored 58 goals in 158 games before they sold him to Fulham. He is currently on loan at Australian side Melbourne City but has been in fine form for them in the A-League, scoring 13 goals in 15 matches.

Leeds have been busy in this transfer window and have already signed Laurens de Bock, Yosuke Ideguchi and Adam Forshaw. They are still in the hunt for some new signings as they look to boost their promotion push. Tommy Elphick and Ross McCormack could be next through the door.
