Aston Villa interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper that isn’t Sam Johnstone

Aston Villa are interested in signing Manchester United’s Dean Henderson according to a report from The Sun via the Birmingham Mail.

The current number one for Aston Villa is Sam Johnstone, another goalkeeper that is currently contracted to Manchester United. He is a fan favourite at Villa Park and everyone involved in the club are keen to sign him to a permanent deal. However despite numerous attempts to do that, they have failed to complete a deal with United seemingly being unsure of whether or not they want to sell Johnstone just yet.

And so Villa are looking to other goalkeepers that they could sign should they be unable to keep Johnstone. And as it turns out they didn’t get very far until finding one they like as they become interested in signing another goalkeeper to come through the ranks at Manchester United. They are fans of Henderson, a 20-year-old goalkeeper who is currently out on loan at Shrewsbury Town. He has been playing very well for them as they go about their surprising bid for promotion from Sky Bet League One, even showcasing his ability in front of a national audience as he kept a clean sheet against West Ham United a BBC televised FA Cup Third Round match.

Villa aren’t sure yet if they want to make a move for Henderson as they still want to sign Johnstone. But if that deal becomes impossible to pull off, the West Midlands club will still be able to snap up a talented goalkeeper which much of his career ahead of him.
