Sheffield Wednesday complete signing of Heracles midfielder

Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Joel Pelupessy from Heracles Almelo as confirmed by the club website.

Now that Wednesday have a manager again after the appoint of Jos Luhukay, they are set to get busy in the transfer market to see if they can escape the mid-table mediocrity that they have ended up being stuck in after some poor form at the end of 2017. And Luhukay has made his first signing as manager after Pelupessy penned a deal with the Owls.

The 24-year-old Dutch midfielder comes from Eredivisie side Heracles Almelo where has been a favourite for the last few years, eventually hitting the 100 appearance milestone not so long ago. But now he will try his hand at English football after moving to Wednesday where he will hope to make a major impact. His versatility may end up being one of his best features as he can also fill in at centre-back and right-back.

After the signing was completed, Pelupessy said: “I am here now, so I am very happy. This is a big opportunity for me.”

“I have always said I’d like to play my football in England and now it is going to happen.”

“I watched a lot of football in my youth career and was always watching football in England and I believe this is the right moment for me to be here.”

Sheffield Wednesday are a big club, a great club and I can’t wait. I hope as soon as possible to play.”

Pelupessy could make his debut for Wednesday in Saturday’s televised match against Cardiff City.
