Oldham, Northampton and Shrewsbury are chasing young defender

Aston Villa youngster Easah Suliman is attracting interest from Oldham, Northampton and Shrewsbury, according to HITC Sport.

Oldham Athletic, Northampton Town and surprise promotion challengers Shrewsbury town are all interested in signing the teenage defender.

The centre-half started every game for England’s triumphant Under-19’s European Championship in the Summer of 2017, as well as captaining the side.

A versatile defender, Suliman can operate either at centre-back or left-back – and he can also play in centre midfield if required.

Suliman signed a two-year professional contract with Villa in January 2015 – and his development to date has been impressive.

Suliman has made only one appearance for Villa’s first-team this season, playing just nine minutes in the 4-1 EFL Cup win against Wigan Athletic in August in what was his senior début for the club he joined back in 2012.

The 19-year-old defender enjoyed a four-month stint at League Two side Cheltenham Town at the beginning of last season and made 12 appearances.

Cheltenham Town boss Gary Johnson regards Suliman highly as he said “He is a very talented player who has a bright future in the game.”

The defender also scooped two nationally recognised awards – the Young Player gong at the Asian Football Awards in November 2015 as well as the Youth Sport Trust Young Sports Person of the year award at the Lycamobile British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSA) in February 2016.

Shrewsbury Town will be keen to capture the signature of Easah Suliman, after Salop boss Paul Hurst allowed centre back Zak Jules to join Port Vale on loan for the rest of the season.

Paul Hurst is positive that Jules will progress whilst out on loan at Port Vale as he told the club website “With Port Vale he’s going to a good club where he has the chance to show what he can do and then come back to us better and stronger.”
