Leeds United – Forshaw signs for sure!

Adam Forshaw joins Leeds United from Championship rivals Middlesborough.

Adam joins the Whites for a deal worth £4.5 million after speculation has been rife across social media. Initially the fee was rumoured to be around £2 million but seems to have risen last minute, a sign that United were happy to agree to that ensuring the deal would go over the line finally.

The 26-year-old midfielder has signed a 4 and a half year deal. He has signed just in time to be registered for Saturday’s clash against fierce rivals Millwall.

In the official statement on the club website, it is mentioned that they fought off challenges from other clubs in the league for Adam’s signature.

During his time at Boro’ he made 103 appearances scoring two goals. 34 of his appearances came in the 16/17 Premier League season. He also has Europa League experience during his time with Everton in 2009. He also played alongside former Leeds loanee Ross Barkley.

Coincidental with his squad number four, Forshaw becomes Leeds’ fourth signing of the January transfer window.

After a brief spell with former Leeds manager Uwe Rosler, Adam moved onto Middlesbrough in the season before their promotion to the Premier League. The midfielder made 16 appearances and scored one goal for the Latics.

 

It has been noted that Forshaw was Middlesbrough’s Community Player of the Year in 2016/17. He was also the player with the most passes, highest pass completion & most distance covered for Boro during their Premier League season.

One question remains, will he be walking out of the tunnel with the team on Saturday against Millwall?
