Want-away Middlesbrough defender ‘has received proposals’ to move

Middlesbrough defender Fabio Da Silva has recently spoken out about asking to leave the club this January transfer window and claims the club have received offers.

Fabio recently gave an interview to Globo Esporte, a television company in his home nation of Brazil. Fabio said: “I have already received some proposals and I will start to see this now that the window has opened. That’s why I asked to leave.

“My manager will see the best option for me to go. I already talked to him, but the fans are not accepting my exit very well.”

Boro boss Tony Pulis stated in the post-match interview of their victory against Preston that the Brazilian had requested to leave the club. Speaking to BBC Radio Tees, Pulis insinuated that the reasoning was based on family issues.

But this on-going transfer saga started when Fabio revealed plans to return to Brazil to play football for the rest of his career. Another interview with Globo in December showed his desire to join the club Botafogo.

“Botafogo always gets me. I’m Botafogo and my dream is to play for Botafogo. I plan on making a three-year contract, staying up to 30 years old (at Middlesbrough). Then I want to play for Botafogo and end my career there.”

Fabio is currently 27 years of age, and although it would make sense for his contract to run down before joining the Brazilian outfit, a cryptic post which read “Thank you for your support I will never forget. Happy 2018 you all deserve better” was uploaded to the former Manchester United players’ Instagram page.

Pulis confirmed Fabio’s statement that Middlesbrough have received offers.

“There’s other offers out there that he would like to accept if given the opportunity,” Pulis told BBC Radio Tees. “But that’s up to Steve (Gibson) and the directors and whether they believe a deal is worth doing. We’ll wait and see.”
