GOSSIP: Birmingham linked with Swiss midfielder

Birmingham City are reportedly interested in Lech Poznań midfielder Darko Jevtić, according to Polish media outlet Gazeta Wyborcza.

The 24-year-old has featured 17 times this season for the Railwaymen in all competitions, with five goals and five assists to his name in the current campaign.

Allegedly, Blues have had an offer of £2.4million already rejected by Poznan for the attacking midfielder.

Jevtić has represented Switzerland at all youth levels, including the Under 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 sides, with a total of 10 goals in 36 caps.

He graduated from FC Basel’s youth academy in January 2012, but only went on to make four appearances for the first team.

The midfielder spent the 2013/14 season on loan with Austrian club Wacker Innsbruck, where he scored three times and provided two assists in 20 appearances.

In the following season, Jevtić was loaned out to Lech Poznań and after an impressive start to the season, the Polish side purchased Jevtić for €350,000 (£310,284.88).

The Swiss maestro finished his first full season in the Polish capital by guiding his new side to their seventh Ekstraklasa title.

In Jevtić’s three full seasons with the club so far, they have reached the Polish Cup final in all three campaigns. However, the Railwaymen have failed to win on either occasion.

In 2015 and 2016, Poznań went on to win the Polish SuperCup, with Jevtić featuring in their 2015 triumph.

During the 2015/16 season, Jevtić featured twice for his side during their UEFA Europa League campaign, both of which came against his former side Basel.

Jevtić could be a fine addition to the Birmingham squad if they do sign him, with the West Midlands side currently 23rd in the Sky Bet Championship table and in serious danger of facing relegation.
