FA Cup Preview: Wimbledon travel to Wembley

AFC Wimbledon travel to Wembley as they take on Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup this Sunday.

Spurs are sat in 5th place in the Premier League table and are just three points behind Liverpool who occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

Spurs have picked up seven points from their last nine available having two wins and a draw in their last three games. Southampton and Swansea City were put to the sword as Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Spurs were pegged back in their last Premier League fixture with rivals West Ham United at Wembley. Despite having 31 shots on goal compared to West Ham’s three, the Irons were able to escape with a point.

Pedro Obiang’s long range striker was able to beat French international Hugo Lloris to give to Hammers a second half lead.

However, the Premier League’s top scoring Korean was able to beat Adrian and give Spurs a share of the points. Son Heung-Min’s goal of the season contender made sure that Spurs were able to maintain their unbeaten run.

SkyBet League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon are currently sat in the relegation zone despite losing once in their last three games.

A 2-2 draw with fellow strugglers Gillingham was followed by a 2-0 win against Phil Brown’s Southend United.

Liam Trotter and Tom Soares’ goals were enough to secure the points and help close the gap on the teams above.

Wimbledon were able to dispose of League One play-off hopefuls Charlton Athletic at Kingsmeadow.

Lyle Taylor scored his third in the competition as he netted a brace and Cody McDonald meant that the Dons were able to set up a tie with Spurs.

These two sides have never met since Wimbledon’s reformation back in 2002.
