Former Leeds United and Rotherham manager Neil Redfearn has been appointed as Doncaster Rovers Belles’ Head Coach.
Redfearn was manager of Leeds United for the 2014/2015 season replacing Dave Hockoday, who was sacked after just six games in charge.
Redfearn would eventually go on to lead Leeds to a 15th placed finish before being replaced by Uwe Rosler. Roster would, himself, go on to last just 12 games at Elland Road.
It would be Rotherham who would pick up the former Leeds manager during the 2015/2016 season. Redfearn helped steer the Reds to safety in the Championship.
Redfearn only lasted 21 games at the New York Stadium, leaving Rotherham in 22nd place on the day of his departure.
Doncaster Belles currently sit top of the Women’s Super League 2 and have gone unbeaten so far this season.
Former manager Emma Coates left her role in order to pursue a career with the England Lionesses.
On his arrival to the WSL2 club, Redfearn told the official club website:
“I look forward to continuing the good work going forward and working with the players and staff of the club.
“The Women’s game is on a steep upwards curve and it is our aim to have Doncaster Belles competing at the highest level against the elite football athletes of WSL1.
“I have been hugely impressed by the players “buy in” over the last 6 weeks towards my training methods and beliefs of how the game should be played and hopefully we can keep improving and be successful collectively and individually going forward”.
The former Leeds United manager’s first game will be a trip to bottom of the league Watford on the 7th of January.
