PREVIEW: Morecambe host Glovers in six-pointer

Morecambe play host to Yeovil Town this evening, a fixture which can already be described as a six-pointer at this stage of the season.

The hosts come into the tie on 22 points, just two points ahead of Forest Green, Chesterfield and Barnet below them. Yeovil are place slightly above their hosts in 19th position, currently sat on 27 points at this stage of the season.

Morecambe have hit a rather sticky patch of form recently losing their last three to Barnet, Mansfield and most recently Notts County. Callum Lang’s goal proved only to be a consolation as the promotion chasing County ran out 4-1 winners.

Visitors Yeovil will be much more confident coming into the tie, with Darren Way’s side looking to extend their unbeaten run to five games.

A draw against Mansfield followed by back to back wins against promotion challenging Exeter City and Cheltenham Town have lifted the Glovers to open up a seven point gap from the bottom two.

Goals from Omar Sowwunmi and Jordan Green secured all the points for Yeovil, who last tasted defeat to third placed Lincoln City.

Skipper James Bailey will miss the tie after a sustaining a knee injury that looks set to give him a prolonged spell on the sideline. He joins Rhys Browne, Oscar Gobern and Dan Alfei in the treatment room..

These two sides met back in September, and the honours were shared. A 2-2 draw at Huish Park ensured that Bentley’s side had made the long journey worth it.

Francois Zoko and Sam Surridge fired the hosts into a 2-0 lead but late strikes from Adam McGurk and Kevin Ellison tied up the game.
