PREVIEW: Swindon vs Notts County – County looking to catch up

Notts County will be looking to close the gap on Luton this weekend when they travel to Swindon.

County sit in 2nd behind free-scoring Luton by just four points. Their hosts, Swindon will be looking to put themselves back into play-off contention. They currently lie in 11th place, just three points behind Coventry.

Swindon were outclassed on Boxing Day as they met a bang in form Luton Town who put five goals past them. Swindon will be looking to build on their recent away success at Crewe after they comfortably dispatched of Dave Artell’s men.

Kaiyne Woolery, Amine Linganzi and Luke Norris secured the points at Gresty Road and moved David Flitcroft’s side back into the play-off picture.

Swindon welcome a host of players back from injury. Scott Twine, Kellan Gordon, Ellis Iandolo and Chris Robertson could come back into the frame for Saturday’s game. However, on loan striker Harry Smith has returned to parent club Milwall.

County will come into the game in high spirits  after notching four goals of their own as they put Morecambe to the sword. On loan Nottingham Forest forward Jorge Grant bagged himself another brace as did former Hartlepool wide midfielder Lewis Alessandra.

Kevin Nolan were without forwards Shola Ameobi and Jonathan Forte plus midfielder Rob Milsom for their demolition of Morecambe but will hope to have the trio back for Saturday’s travels.

These two clashed earlier in the season at Meadow Lane. Jonathan Stead’s penalty was the only difference between the two sides as County claimed an invaluable three points in their quest to return to League One.
