Fleetwood’s wonderkid rejects interest from Manchester Utd, Arsenal and Everton to sign new deal

Young England starlet Billy Crellin rejects interest from Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton to pen new deal at Fleetwood according to The Sun.

The 17-year-old was being watched by Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton after being part of England’s youth team winning the World Cup in India.

But he will stay in League One after agreeing fresh terms to stay at Highbury Stadium until 2020. Crellin wants to compete for senior football soon rather than move to the top-flight to be part of their Academy set-up.

Crellin is highly regarded at Fleetwood and this is what Andy Pilley, chairman of the club, had to say when Crellin received his first England call up “It’s a proud day for everyone at Fleetwood Town to have one of our young players called-up for England.”

“Billy is a Fleetwood lad which makes it extra special for us all to have one of our own showing such promise and potential.”

“The call-up is just the start for Billy, hopefully he can work hard and continue to develop, I look forward to him one day making his debut in our first team here at the club.

“It’s another milestone for Fleetwood Town and hopefully the first of many we produce who goes onto be recognised in this way.”

Dave Lucas, Goalkeeping Coach, added: “It’s a proud moment for Billy, his family and for myself too.”

“He’s been like a sponge since he’s been with us – he just takes everything in and adapted to different situations in training and matches. His personal development has been great and it is evident that he wants to improve.

“His confidence is really and high and he is buzzing for the chance”

Crellin has featured for Uwe Rosler’s first team in pre-season, and was part of the travelling squad that went on a week-long training camp in Austria.
