PREVIEW: Grecians make the short trip to Yeovil

Last season’s play-off finalists Exeter City make a relevantly short trip to Somerset to take on Yeovil this weekend.

The Grecians currently sit in 3rd place, two points ahead of fourth placed Wycombe Wanderers and the chasing pack. Yeovil are having a much more difficult season, placed in a lowly 21st place. A single point above the relegation zone.

The Glovers have only won one point from their last nine and are hovering just above the relegation zone. In that period, they have only managed one goal. Francois Zoko’s consolation away at Wycombe being the only time they found the net.

A credible 0-0 draw away at pre-season favourites Mansfield Town will give Darren Way and his players confidence going into the festive period.

Exeter have collected six points out of nine in their last three league games. Paul Tisdale’s side’s last victory coming at home against Stevenage. Goals from Lloyd James and Pierce Sweeney were enough to grab the points and lift themselves into the automatic spots, at the cost of Accrington Stanley.

Summer signing Dean Moxey and Jordan Tillson are expected to return to the match day squad on Saturday. The pair were forced to sit out of the home victory against Stevenage last weekend.

The pair last met in an enthralling 3-3 draw back in March. The visitors were 3-0 up with goals from Zoko, Shaylon Harrison and Alex Lacey. However, this was just the start to a crazy affair.

Exeter scored three goals in the last ten minutes to salvage a point. David Wheeler scored the first, with ten minutes still to play. Two injury time goals from Troy Brown and Reuben Reid rescued a point for the home side.
