Leeds United, Fulham and Middlesbrough all want Liverpool winger on loan

Championship trio Leeds United, Fulham and Middlesbrough are ready to battle it out to sign Liverpool’s Ryan Kent in January, according to the Daily Star.

The winger is currently on loan at Freiburg but has struggled to make an impact at the Bundesliga club. He could be recalled by Liverpool in January and then loaned out to a Championship club. This has left Leeds, Fulham and Middlesbrough on red alert.

Kent, 21, came up through the Liverpool academy. He got his first taste of first-team football on loan at Coventry City in the 2015/16 season. He then went on loan to Barnsley in the Championship last season and played 47 games for the Tykes in all competitions.

He impressed for the Reds in pre-season and was heavily linked with a move to the Championship on loan all summer. With clubs like Leeds and Birmingham interested, Kent decided to move to Germany with Freiburg instead of staying in England. However, after featuring just 6 times for Freiburg, Kent is set for a return to England and may have a second bite at the Championship.

Leeds United, Fulham and Middlesbrough are the three clubs in the second tier being linked at the moment. They all have Play-Offs aspirations and will be looking to push on for the rest of the season. Kent would be a great signing for a Championship side as he is already an established player at this level having impressed for Barnsley last season. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
