Partial Latics takeover is “very close”

Moroccan businessman Abdallah Lemsagam is weeks away from purchasing part of Oldham Athletic and will solve some much-needed funding issues off the field – as reported by Manchester Evening News.

Talks between Abdallah Lemsagam and Simon Corney appear to have been going on for months which seemed to be progressing fairly well until both parties reached a stumbling block last month. However, these issues now seem to be resolved.

Latics chief executive Mark Moisley told Manchester Evening News “It’s looking like it’s very close. The EFL have had all the documents they’ve required now. They came back and asked for some additional [documents] that they’ve now had, and as far as we’re aware they’re happy with everything,”

He also added “I know we’ve been criticised for saying it’s dragged on. We said a little while ago that we thought it would be four to six weeks, and the reason we said that is that’s what we believed at the time.

Moisley was also content on easing any fears Latics supporters have after the recent visit from HM Revenue & Customs.

Latics put on an impressive display at the weekend as they beat struggling Northampton Town 5-1. Goals from Jack Byrne (2) , Tope Obadeyi, Gevaro Nepomuceno and Craig Davies saw Latics record their biggest win of the season.

Gevaro Nepomuceno says confidence is high and told Ifollow Latics “I’m happy for the team, for myself and the fans that we won again and got three points.” He also added “Before today’s game and the five goals we were already confident so I think we will have more and more confidence now.”
