Sunderland are to let duo leave to join Falkirk in January

Scottish side Falkirk want to sign Sunderland duo Tommy Robson and Andrew Nelson, according to the Sunderland Echo.

Sunderland are apparently willing to let the two youngsters join the Scottish Championship outfit in January. Falkirk are second bottom in the league.

Tommy Robson, who is 22 years-old, came up through the Darlington academy before joining the Black Cats in 2012. He made his Premier League debut for Sunderland on 15th May 2016 in a 2-2 draw away at Watford at Vicarage Road. That was his only senior appearance for the North-East club.

Robson spent last season on loan at Irish side Limerick. He played 18 times in the League of Ireland and gained some first-team experience.

Striker Andrew Nelson is another Sunderland youngster on Falkirk’s radar. He was born in Stockton-On-Tees and came up through the Sunderland academy. The 20 year-old has never played for the Black Cats but played 4 games on loan at Hartlepool United in League Two last season after joining them on a short-term loan in January.

He has recently been on loan at Harrogate Town but is now been targeted by Falkirk, who are looking to sign some new players in January to boost their survival chances in the Scottish Championship under their boss Paul Hartley.

Sunderland boss Chris Coleman also be wanting to put his own stamp on the side he inherited from Simon Grayson. There is expected to be a lot of comings and goings at Sunderland in January and selling Robson and Nelson could happen as soon as the window opens.
