Aston Villa are keen on a move for on-loan Sunderland striker

Aston Villa are the latest club to be interested in a move for AFC Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban, as per a report by HITC Sport.

The forward is currently on loan at Championship side Sunderland but the Cherries have a recall clause in his loan contract. He has impressed so far for the Black Cats and is their top scorer with 11 goals this season.

Aston Villa have now reportedly joined the race for him. They are currently 5th in the Championship table and Steve Bruce will already be looking for some potential signings in January to help his side push for promotion to the Premier League.

Grabban, 29, feel down the pecking order at Bournemouth in the top flight last season and was loaned out to Reading for the remainder of the season. He was part of the Royals side who got to the Championship Play-Off final last season, so has experience of a Play-Off push, which could be handy for Villa.

Grabban started his career with Crystal Palace before moving to Millwall in 2008. His career did not really take off until he moved to Rotherham United in 2011. After a season with the Millers, Grabban was snapped up by Bournemouth and helped them get promoted to the Championship before moving to Norwich.

Grabban re-joined Bournemouth in 2015 but his second spell with the Cherries has not been sweet. The priority now for him will be to look for a permanent home. Sunderland will face a test in January to keep him, especially with Aston Villa lurking.
