NEWS: Championship trio eye moves for Bolton star

Championship trio Leeds United, Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday are all eyeing a move for Bolton Wanderers midfielder Josh Vela, according to the Mail Online.

The report states that Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion are also keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, with Vela entering the final 18 months of his contract.

Bolton, who are in the midst of numerous financial worries, could be forced to sell their prized asset in order to release some much-needed cash.

Vela has established himself as a key figure at the Macron stadium since his breakthrough into the first team. His consistent performances have earned him a number of admirers and he was also linked to Liverpool as a teenager.

Vela made his debut for Wanderers as just a teenager in 2012, back when they were Premier League side. At the back-end of the 2013/14 season he was loaned out to League One side Notts County, where he made 7 appearances.

Many considered this to be a key break through for Vela, and in the 2014/15 season he became a main stay in the first XI at right back. Such were the standard of his performances, he was named the runner-up in the clubs player of the season vote behind Tim Ream.

He was eventually pushed into the heart of the Bolton midfield, with his most impressive season coming in their promotion back to the Championship. He scored 9 goals from midfield, helping the club to a 2nd place finish.

After injuring his ankle on the first day of the season in the 3-2 defeat to Leeds, he returned to action in October. His come back from injury has coincided with an upturn in Wanderers’ form, losing just once in 9 league games, helping the club climb out of the relegation places.

The loss of Vela would represent a massive blow to Bolton, but Leeds, Derby and Wednesday all see him as a man who could help maintain their promotion push.
