Nottingham Forest boss weary of Ipswich attacking threat

Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton is weary of Ipswich Town’s attacking intent, according to the East Anglian Daily Times.

Former Town striker Daryl Murphy returns to Portmas Road for the second time since his departure last August – scoring against Town as a Newcastle United player in April – and his time in the East Midlands is already going well with seven Sky Bet Championship goals this term.

Murphy is expected to front Forest’s attack against Town, however Warburton is familiar with the Blues’ attacking options having signed both Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner during his tenure in charge of Rangers.

With nine goals already to his name, Waghorn leads Town’s scoring records and is an almost-certain starter against Forest, whereas Garner requires sufficient time to recover from a foot injury which saw him miss the game at Derby.

“They have got some goals between them,” Warburton said. “Waggy was one of our first signings, in our first few months at Rangers.

“We signed Joe later on and he is a player we got for a decent fee. He is a very aggressive, combative player but with no shortage of quality.

“Waggy has a great left foot and desire to go with that. They are enjoying their football and I am sure they are being well managed by Mick.

“They are two players in form and we are aware of them – but they have other players in their squad who can cause problems.

“We will be prepared for a tough game. Ipswich are a team high on confidence, who got a great result in midweek at Derby.”
