Leeds United eyeing January move for prolific German striker

Championship side Leeds United have sent scouts to watch Holstein Kiel striker Marvin Ducksch, according to the Daily Mail.

The 23 year-old has been on fire for the 2. Bundesliga side so far this season. He is currently on a season-long loan from St. Pauli and his 13 goals so far this season has attracted the attention of many other clubs, including Leeds United.

Ducksch, who is 6ft 2inc, started his career with Borussia Dortmund and was a key player for Dortmund’s second team in his younger days, scoring 36 goals in four seasons. He was tipped as one of the brightest young talents at Dortmund at the time. He made his first-team debut in 2013 and played 8 times during the 2013/14 season.

He was loaned out to Paderborn for the 2014/15 season, who were in the Bundesliga at the time but he failed to make an impact for them. He then signed by St. Pauli on a permanent basis in the summer of 2016 but he struggled to get into the starting XI. His career had stalled but a loan move to Holstein Kiel has re-ignited his form.

He is a target of Leeds United who could move for him in January. Thomas Christiansen’s side have started the season well but their form has been poor recently. They will be looking for reinforcements in January to bolster their squad ahead of the rest of the season. The signing of Marvin Ducksch from St. Pauli would certainly give Leeds more options at the top of the pitch and more of an attacking threat.
