Tom Lees speaks about emotional balances after tough week for Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday’s Tom Lees has told the club website about the importance about not getting too low after a loss but also about not getting to high on a big win following a tough week for the team.

Before the international break, Wednesday had one of their toughest weeks they’ve had for the last few years. They started it off with a humiliating 4-2 defeat to Steel City rivals Sheffield United before falling to Birmingham City in the week, a team that were going through a terrible run of form. However they bounced back by comfortably beating Leeds United 3-0, potentially saving head coach Carlos Carvalhal from the sack.

Following that tough week, Lees has spoken about keeping your mind in check during such a turbulent time. He has said it is very important not to get carried away, whether that means not getting too down after some tough defeats or becoming too happy when being able to get such a massive victory over your Yorkshire rivals.

He said: “It had been a tough week for us but we were determined to go out and get the three points.”

“The performance was important for us as well and we showed what we are capable of.”

“You have got to be pretty level-headed about things; when you lose a game you can’t afford to get too low and too irrational.”

“And it’s the same when you win. We’re not getting carried away by any means but it is pleasing to go into the break with a win like that in a pressurised game for us.”
