Birmingham City caretaker boss to have 6 games in charge

Birmingham City caretaker boss Lee Carsley is set to be given 6 games in charge of the Blues, according to the Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The 43-year old former midfielder was placed in temporary charge of Birmingham after they sacked Harry Redknapp last season. The Blues find themselves in the Championship relegation zone following 1 win in 9 games so far this seaon.

There were improvements in Saturday’s game against Derby County at the IPro Stadium for the Blues. They put in a very creditable performance under Carsley and drew 1-1. They may also feel that they should of won the game after taking the lead through Lukas Jutkiewicz, only for Sam Winnall to level for Derby.

Carsley has said the manager’s job should be given to someone who is proven in the Championship. However, many bookies have him as a firm candidate and he will be given 6 games whilst the club decide what to do next. Names like Aitor Karanka, Nigel Adkins and Steve Cotterill are also in the frame.

Birmingham had a busy transfer window in the summer. They spent a lot of money bringing in players like Sam Gallagher, Harlee Dean, David Stockdale, axime Colin and Jota, to name a few. They were certainly building a team that they wanted to fight at the upper end of the table. Therefore, someone needs to come in quick and turn them around.

That man could be Lee Carsley, depending on how well his 6 games go, or it could be a new manager with new ideas. Only time will tell.
