Derby County “watching” prolific Rangers striker

Championship side Derby County are keeping tabs on Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, as per a report by the Derby Telegraph.

The 21 year-old has been in prolific form for SPL side Rangers since joining in the summer, netting 6 goals in 6 games. It is believed that some scouts from Championship sides were watching him last Friday when Rangers played Partick Thistle.

Morelos started his career in Colombia with Independiente Medellin and made his debut in 2014. He played 7 games for the Colombian side and scored 6 goals. He then went on loan to Finnish side Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi (HJK) in 2016. He scored 16 goals in 30 games for the Finnish side, which earned him a permanent move there. He then carried on his prolific form, scoring 11 in 12. A move to Rangers in the summer followed, but it now looks like he won’t be in Scotland for long.

Derby boss Gary Rowett is now already looking at additions for January. He was a busy man in the summer, bringing the likes of Tom Huddlestone and Curtis Davies into the club from Hull City, and Tom Lawrence from Leicester City. However, despite signing Sam Winnall from Sheffield Wednesday on loan on deadline day, it is believed that Rowett wants to sign another striker in January to help the Rams push for promotion.

Being only 21, Alfredo Moralos is certainly a name for the future. If his prolific form continues with Rangers in Scotland, there will be a lot of Championship clubs, including Derby County, interested in signing him in January.
