Middlesbrough star supposedly quit club for bizarre reason

According to the Daily Star, Gaston Ramirez quit Middlesbrough for non-footballing reasons and that their relegation into the Championship ‘wasn’t the reason’ why he quit the club to move to Sampdoria in Italy.

Ramirez supposedly quit Teeside because of the weather – supposedly saying he was too cold in Middlesbrough and that he didn’t like the climate.

According to the Gazette Live via: IL Secolo XIX the midfielder said:

“In Premier League football it is very physical and maybe I did not find the right team for my game.

“However, I still grew up as a football player (at Boro). Now I’m here to show how good I am.

“I’m still going to work in a taxi. In England I had a Range Rover with a right hand drive, but I have to sell it and then buy a car here. ”

Upon being asked about the weather, Ramirez suggested that he found the Teeside climate a bit too cold for his liking.

“The climate? Here it is fine, but I felt warm there 15 days a year.”

Ramirez was one of Middlesbrough’s top performers in a one-and-a-half-year spell, picking up nine goals in 40 league games during his time at Middlesbrough which showed that he could still perform at the highest level for Middlesbrough.
Ramirez scored an incredible goal in the Premier League for Boro but after trying to force his way out of the club in the January transfer window, his popularity levels rapidly decreased and he found it tough to work his way back into the team.
