Leeds United: Top XI of Summer Transfers

6. Matthew Pennington (CB)

Age: 22

Previous Clubs: On loan from Everton, Tranmere Rovers (loan), Coventry City (loan), Walsall (loan)

Pennington is a fantastic capture for Leeds United and with the defender signing on a season long-loan at the Whites from Everton, he brings stability to a defense which was so strong during last season.

The defender picked up an injury against Bolton Wanderers in Leeds’ first game of the season but when he gets more time in the central defensive role for Leeds United, his talent will shine through.

Pennington has made 7 appearances in the Premier League for Everton and is composed on the ball and confident at the back. With Leeds United failing to bring Swansea defender Kyle Bartley back to Elland Road, Pennington is a more than capable replacement with arguably, greater potential.
