Wolves give up on trying to sign PSV striker

Wolves will not be signing PSV Eindhoven’s Jurgen Locadia according to a report from Dutch publication Voetbal International via Inside Futbol.

The Black Country side wanted to side many strikers this summer but while they have been linked with many top quality forwards, including a staggering £15m bid for Bournemouth’s Benik Afobe today, the only person they have been able to get to sign on the dotted line is Leo Bonatini who moved to the club on loan earlier in the summer.

It did seem like they were going to get at least one striker through the doors today though as reports suggested that they were close to completing a deal to sign Locadia from Dutch icons PSV. Wolves are big fans of the player and have been doing all they can to try and make sure that he is contracted to the club before the deadline closes tonight. But it appears that despite their best efforts, he will be remaining in the Netherlands for the time being.

While it seemed for the longest time that Locadia would be signing for Wolves, reports coming from the representatives of the player himself have said the deal has broken down and there is little chance of that being reignited in the last few hours of the transfer window. Now if Wolves want a new striker, they will have to turn to another target which most likely would have to come from within the country. They could then make a move for Locadia in the January transfer window.
