Nottingham Forest to move for Premier League ‘keeper

Nottingham Forest are reported to move for Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles, if their deal for Brondby stopper Frederik Ronnow falls through, according to Sun columnist Alan Nixon.

Forest made a £2.1 million bid for Brondby goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow earlier in the window, and are waiting for a response on a second bid of £2.7 million from the Danish outfit. However, should the option to purchase and bring in Ronnow fall through, Sun transfer columnist Alan Nixon suggested on Twitter that Forest could, and likely will, make a move for want-away Everton ‘keeper Joel Robles.

Joel has become unhappy at being third-choice behind Jordan Pickford and Maarten Stekelenburg. Robles was brought into Everton in 2013 by Roberto Martinez, who was impressed by his fellow Spaniard during his loan spell at Wigan Athletic. Despite this, it would seem that Ronald Koeman has no queries as to letting the player leave.

Of course, this all hinges on Forest’s pursuit or Frederik Ronnow and if that deal does or does not go through. What the deal also is affected by is Joel’s desire to return to his native Spain and to La Liga, where he played for Atletico Madrid.

The stats for Robles are rather impressive, during last season he played 22 times for Everton in all competitons, keeping 10 clean sheets and conceding just 23. Were Forest to capture the signature of the Spaniard instead of Ronnow, it would surely be a massive coup for the club.

Either way, Forest are in hot pursuit of a goalkeeper heading late into deadline day, and while the official bid for Ronnow is pending and Joel is only a rumour, both could end up heading late into the night.
