Stumbling block in Hull City’s chase of Leicester’s Ahmed Musa

Hull Daily Mail Football Writer Philip Buckingham has revealed that Hull City face competition in their quest to sign Leicester City forward Ahmed Musa. It did seem inevitable yesterday that the plan would be linking up with Leonid Slutsky once again, just like they did at CSKA Moscow, but there is now some doubt to this.

The Foxes front man is now the subject of interest from another rival Premier League club. The question therefore remains to be seen if Musa does really want to work with Slutsky again, or try to test and prove himself in the Premier League, something he has failed to do so following a big-money move last season.

The 24-year-old is currently in Nigeria with the national team preparing for upcoming international fixtures. He has featured just once for Craig Shakespeare’s side this season, the 4-1 away win at Championship outfit Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup. He would find the back of the net in that clash as well.

Slutsky has been busy in recent days adding to his Tigers squad as he looks to add more depth and quality to their ranks. He has managed to successfully do so, but may feel as though Musa is the one missing piece of the jigsaw. The presence of another Premier League club entering the race is ‘spinning a few plates’ according to Buckingham.

Elsewhere, the same source also revealed that Hull are confident that they won’t lose any key players before the 11pm deadline. The likes of Kevin Grosicki have been linked with a move away from the KCOM Stadium, Burnley in his case.
