Leeds United set to confirm striker signing

According to Swedish website aftonbladet, Leeds United are reportedly set to unveil Paweł Cibicki as their latest signing in the coming 48 hours.

The Swedish website has implied that Cibicki will be unveiled as a Leeds United player “shortly” which follows a week of intense speculation about who will replace Chris Wood as Leeds United’s main striker.

The West Yorkshire side reportedly agreed on a deal to sign Pierre-Michel Lasogga yesterday and after signing young Dutch forward Jay-Roy Grot, it appears that the Whites have tried to bring in three new faces to replace Wood and Souleymane Doukara rather than two incredibly expensive signings.

Cibicki is only 23 years old and has been part of Swedish side Malmö FF since he signed for their youth academy in 2006.

The young striker has made 57 appearances for the Swedish team, scoring on 11 occasions and offers real promise for the future.

There had been reported interest in the striker from both Manchester United and Ajax this year but it appears the Swedish U21 player will be making a move to West Yorkshire to link up with his fellow countryman and former teammate Pontus Jansson.

It appears Leeds United’s owner Andrea Radrizzani has taken a calculated approach in this transfer window, signing young and promising talent for cut-price transfer fees rather than spending large on big names in the English leagues.

This transfer strategy may well have been implemented by Leeds United’s director of football Victor Orta who is widely known for his ability to bring in players on attractive deals and for his talent with dealing with players in the transfer market.
