Leeds target has travelled to England to discuss move

Leeds target Pierre-Michel Lasogga has traveled to England with his family to discuss a potential transfer to Leeds according to reliable journalist Phil Hay. Phil Hay also stated that Lasogga’s current club Hamburg want to move him on before deadline day.

Lasogga has been linked with a move to Leeds for most of August. The 25-year-old has fallen out of favour at Hamburg, and he has become their fifth choice striker. Lasogga only managed to net once for Hamburg last season as they finished 14th in the Bundesliga. Should Lasogga leave Hamburg -which looks very likely- it will be his first stint away from Germany.

Leeds are now short on strikers after the departures of Wood and Doukara who left for Burnley and Osmanlispor respectively. Thomas Christiansen has alot of money to spend after Burnley bought Wood for £20 million, therefore it’s likely that we will see more arrivals at Elland Road before the deadline.

However, Championship rivals Wolves and Aston Villa have been reported to be keeping tabs on the Germany Under-21 international. But it would seem like Leeds are the favourites to sign Lassoga with reports suggesting that a fee has been agreed.

Hamburg’s sporting director told a local newspaper that “Pierre has taken two days to get an overview of Leeds” which basically, confirms his departure from the Bundesliga club.

Lasogga is currently earning £50,000 per week with Hamburg. However, with Chris Wood previously being the highest paid player, on £15,000 it’s going to take some persuading to make him take a pay cut. It’s being reported that the deal will be a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Lasogga began his career with Bayer Leverkusen, but he never made an appearance for the club. In 2010 he signed for Hertha BSC, and the 25-year-old scored 24 goals in 70 appearances for Hertha BSC. His form attracted the attention of Hamburg. He signed for Hamburg in 2014, and has scored 30 goals for the club.
