In many ways, Derby County’s summer transfer business can be classed as a success. However, with a week until the transfer window slams shut, the Rams could still delve into the market to boost their promotion chances.
Thus far, Hull City duo Curtis Davies and Tom Huddlestone have arrived at Pride Park on cut-price deals, whilst former loanee Andre Wisdom joined from Liverpool and long-time target Tom Lawrence was prised away from Leicester City.
In terms of departures, Will Hughes and Tom Ince moved up to the Premier League, signing for Watford and Huddersfield respectively, as right-back Cyrus Christie joined Championship rivals Middlesbrough. Meanwhile, Abdoul Camara and Nick Blackman have sought pastures new abroad.
Despite all this transfer activity, there are still areas in Gary Rowett’s squad which could be improved, as they aim to gain promotion back to the Premier League, a division they vacated in 2008.
