Hull, Hull City could sign £16.6 million Premier League striker on loan

Hull City could sign £16.6 million Premier League striker on loan

Championship side Hull City could sign Leicester City striker Ahmed Musa on loan before the end of the transfer window, according to the Hull Daily Mail.

Hull may now need another striker, following the news that first-choice Abel Hernandez has been ruled out for six months with a ruptured achilles.  The striker had enjoyed a good start to the season, scoring three goals in as many Championship games.

Musa and Hull have been linked several times already this summer, but a deal could be about to materialise following the news of Hernandez’s injury.  Hull City boss Leonardo Slutsky and Musa have a good relationship following their time at CSKA Moscow together.

Slutsky said recently: “We have some loan options and maybe at the end of the transfer window getting players from the Premier League is possible. We are waiting for the decision of big clubs on some players.

“He’s not our player but of course every coach is better working with players he knows and of course I worked with Musa for five years. I know him and he knows me, it is normal. His position is not the only important one though in this situation.”

Musa would certainly be a good signing for Hull, even if the deal was only a temporary one.  After four successful years at CSKA, the striker made the move to England and signed for Leicester City for £16.6 million.

Leicester did not quite hit the heights of their title-winning season in Musa’s first year at the club, and the striker scored only twice in 18 Premier League appearances.  However, he also spent time playing on the wing.

It is unclear whether Musa will be seen as a first-choice striker or winger at Leicester this season, and so he could be loaned out before the window closes.  If Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare decides to let him go, Hull would probably be his destination.
