Hull City sign up former Sunderland winger

Hull City have signed Sebastian Larsson on a free transfer as confirmed by the club website.

The 32-year-old winger was most recently at Sunderland but while he had been a key player for them over the last few years, he was released at the end of his contract this summer following the Black Cats relegation from the Premier League. But while reports indicated that he had big money offers from China and Turkey, the Swedish international instead wanted to stay in England and has now found his new club.

He will now be a Hull player after signed a one-year deal with the club. This means that he will be competing with his former club Sunderland for promotion this season as the Tigers seek a quick return to the Premier League. While Larsson is now getting towards the end of his career, his set piece ability could be key as the Humberside club push for one of the top places in the Sky Bet Championship.

After completing his move to Hull, Larsson said: “I’m delighted to be here and I am really looking forward to this fresh challenge.

“I had some options to consider, but I felt this was the best move for me to make and I can’t wait to get started now.”

Larsson will now link up with the rest of his Hull team mates and begin training with him. He could make his debut for the club on Saturday when they take on Burton Albion with the Tigers hoping to get their first win of the season.
