Hull City set to snap up former Sunderland set piece expert

Hull City are set to sign Sebastian Larsson on a free transfer according to a report from the Hull Daily Mail.

The 32-year-old midfielder, who is well known for his prowess with corners and free kicks, has been a free agent since he was released by Sunderland following their relegation from the Premier League last season. He has had the chance to leave the country and take up a lucrative contract in either China or Turkey this summer, but instead wants to stay in England and continue his career here even if he gets less money.

And it appears he is very close to finding a new club as this report suggests that Hull are set to complete a deal to sign him in the next few days. The Tigers have ended up losing a lot of their best players this summer with Harry Maguire heading to Leicester City, Tom Huddlestone moving to Derby County while Ahmed Elmohamady followed his former head coach Steve Bruce to Hull City. This has left Hull with an experience gap they have been desperate to fill.

And they are set to fill that gap by signing Larsson. He does have some experience in the Sky Bet Championship having helped Birmingham City get promoted from this league back in 2007 but most of his playing time has come in the Premier League, either for the Blues or Sunderland. He also has international pedigree having been capped 90 times by Sweden, also playing in several different European Championships.
