Canaries swoop to sign Leyton Orient starlet

Sky Bet Championship side Norwich City have completed a deal to sign Tristan Abrahams from Leyton Orient.

The 18-year-old striker only made his first-team debut for the O’s back in March but went on to make eight further appearances, as well as netting the Sky Bet League Two side’s winner over Hartlepool United in April.

The deal sees the Canaries sign the teenage striker but he will return to Orient on loan for the season, but will be available to train and play for the Norfolk side’s under-23 side.

Orient were relegated to the Vanarama National League last season after a disappointing season in England’s fourth-tier, but Abrahams’ experience at League Two was a vital factor in the Championship side’s decision to sign the 18-year-old.

“He’s played League Two football and is still young.” said Richard Money, Head of Academy at Norwich City. “He’s a big, strong centre-forward and one we think we can develop. The fact he’s already at a good club and that they want to take him back on loan is a good deal for everybody.”

Meanwhile, Abrahams said he is excited to begin a new chapter in his career: I’m absolutely buzzing to come to a club I’ve admired for a long time.

“It’s a great opportunity for me and I’m so happy to have signed. I was told a few clubs were interested but when I heard Norwich were also interested I knew that was the one to come to straight away.

“Heading back to Orient works well for me because I want to play as much first-team football as I can to really improve my game for when I come back to Norwich.”
