Oldham Athletic want young Sunderland goalkeeper on loan

OIdham Athletic are looking to sign Sunderland’s Max Stryjek on loan according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon.

Last season, the Latics had Connor Ripley on loan from Middlesbrough and he would end up becoming one of their best performers last season. The high standard of his displays would make him a fan favourite at Boundary Park but while the club were interested in getting him back, it appears he will either be heading to Blackburn Rovers or Bristol City. And so Oldham are now looking to other targets.

It seems like the Lancashire club will not be signing a shot stopper on a permanent deal so instead they will be looking to loan someone in. And the player they are looking to snap up is Stryjek, a 21-year-old goalkeeper currently contracted to Sunderland. They signed the Polish youth international in 2013 from Polonia but he is yet to make his debut for the club, instead his only first team experience has come with a loan spell to non-league Boston United.

But Stryjek could get his first chance of playing in the EFL if Oldham do end up signing him. The Latics are currently in talks with Sunderland as they looking to bring him to Boundary Park but it is currently unclear if they will come to anything. But it would be an ideal chance for Stryjek to get more first team experience and show the coaching staff at the Stadium of Light that he could potentially break into their first team.
