Reading

Potential Reading XI for the opening day

Goalkeeper

Vito Mannone

The Italian was a product of the Arsenal youth set up and made the step up to the senior squad in 2006.

However the 29-year-old played only 15 times for the senior squad and was subsequently loaned out, firstly at Barnsley, and then had 2 spells at Hull before signing for Sunderland in 2013.

Mannone teetered in and out of the starting XI at his time in the North East with direct competition from Costel Pantilimon, before he moved to Watford, and then Jordan Pickford last season, who was undoubtedly Sunderland’s best player in their recent campaign where they were relegated.

Pickford earned himself a move to Premier League side Everton and Mannone has now moved to Sky Bet Championship side Reading.

Mannone will be a permanent fixture in between the sticks at Reading this season and will look to help ‘The Royals’ push for promotion again this season.
