Potential Leeds United starting XI for Oxford United friendly

In just one day, on Saturday afternoon, Leeds United bring their official first-team pre-season to a close in front of their own fans against Oxford United.

The game itself is part of the deal that took Kemar Roofe to Elland Road last summer and it will be Leeds fans’ first chance to see the Whites at home in this particular preseason.

Lower-key games against sides like Harrogate Town, Guiseley and North Ferriby were preparation for a three game mini-tour to Austria that saw United face Turkish Super League side Bursaspor, 1.Bundesliga side Borussia Monchenglabgach and La Liga side SD Eibar.

Hybrid sides have been used in all the friendlies up to press; some 45/45 games and others more-or-less 60/30 splits. But Saturday’s game should see Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen setting up the start of the game with what would hopefully be his Sky Bet Championship match day starting XI.

Goalkeeper:

Felix Wiedwald – the former Werder Bremem stopper hasn’t come to England to sit on the bench and get splinters in his backside. He played the majority of last season’s 1.Bundesliga campaign, featuring in 25/34 games where he kept five clean sheets and conceded 49 goals. Whilst it is conceivable that Rob Green will start against Oxford, it is more likely that Wiedwald will be given the nod ahead of the former England #1.

Next up is the back four in what is likely to be a 4-2-3-1 approach adopted by head coach Thomas Christiansen.
